The private luxury safari experience in Namibia

It’s 9:00 AM, the arid heat of the Pan is palpable.
You scan the endless horizon, mirages multiply.

The springboks have stopped their acrobatics, the zebras no longer whinny, the savanna is slow.
You’re stationed at a watering hole, the only source of life for miles around.

As hope fades, all the animals raise their heads.
Time stands still, the wait becomes unbearable.

Emerging from the nearby bushes, in a thunderous rumble, they arrive.
A family of elephants rushes to drink, but wait, no.
15, 20, 30, 40 individuals, it’s no longer just a family, it’s a community.

All species move aside to make way for the lords of the land.
Giraffes arrive next, followed by the rhinoceroses, and there you are, Africa as you always imagined it.

This iconic scene has left you speechless, the return in the jeep is calm, almost silent.
You arrive at the lodge, a cool drink awaits, a chilled towel, you come back to life.
You join the main terrace, where the waterhole is also crowded.

You enjoy the spectacle again, like a sense of déjà vu.
The distant ocean spray gently touches your skin, puff! Quickly, your glass awaits.
You savor a feast of refined flavors, holding a liquefied grape in hand.

Before you, the tableau of the savanna is laid out.
Everyone with their own drink. The container doesn’t matter as long as the drunkenness is there.
You head back to your room. The cool air welcomes you.

You take off your shoes, feeling the wooden floor beneath your feet.
Isn’t it time for a refreshment?
You head to your exclusive pool and can’t believe your eyes.
Are you dreaming, living in Inception?

No, everything is normal, the waterhole hasn’t moved, it’s still there, right in front of you.
From your aquatic cocoon, you watch the bush’s residents quench their thirst.
It’s 1:00 PM, you’re happy, savoring the moment like never before.

When to go to Namibia?

The best time for animal observation is undoubtedly the dry season (from May to early November). Due to the dryness, animals concentrate around water sources. You will simply need to navigate between the different water holes to witness an unbelievable spectacle in front of you.

Elephants, giraffes, zebras—all the savanna congregates around the water points. All animals mingle, creating breathtaking scenes.

Temperatures will be very high during the day and much milder at night and in the morning. However, be careful; between June and August, temperatures can drop below freezing at night. The near certainty of no rain is also a significant advantage. So whether for one season or the other, remember to pack warm clothes for your early morning and evening outings.

We recommend the months of September and October, the driest of the year, as this will maximize your chances of wildlife sightings.

However, for lovers of scenery, the rainy season has its advantages. The savanna will become colorful, flowers will fill the air with their fragrance, and nature will seem to come back to life after a harsh period of drought. Moreover, all the migratory birds will return, and herbivores will give birth in turn.

Namibia in More Detail

A destination that evokes desert expanses and breathtaking landscapes. However, it offers a wildlife experience that is not to be underestimated. This southern African country, renowned worldwide for its sand and stone deserts, also has magnificent wildlife observations to offer. Unlike South Africa or Zambia, national parks and reserves are not numerous, and let’s be honest, only Etosha will satisfy animal lovers.

This jewel nestled on the southwest coast of Africa captivates travelers with its stunning beauty, vast wilderness, and fascinating history. This enchanting country, where the red dunes of the Namib Desert meet the Atlantic Ocean, offers a diversity of landscapes of rare magnificence. Its name, derived from the Nama word « Namib, » meaning « vast, » perfectly reflects the immensity of its lands. Formerly a German colony that became independent in 1990, it is a young and dynamic nation, proud of its rich cultural heritage and exceptional biodiversity. This vast and sparsely populated territory is home to contrasting landscapes, ranging from arid regions to lush savannahs, majestic mountains, and rugged coastlines.

This region is particularly renowned for its eponymous desert, the Namib, one of the oldest in the world, estimated to be around 55 million years old. Its red dunes, some of the highest on the planet, stretch as far as the eye can see, creating landscapes that are almost surreal, worthy of the most beautiful postcards. Among the most emblematic sites: two stand out far from the Damaraland. Sossusvlei and Deadvlei emerge like mirages in a lifeless area, with their dead trees frozen in time, cracked soils, and blazing dunes that ignite under the rays of the rising sun. The Namib-Naukluft National Park, which encompasses part of the Namib, is a sanctuary for lovers of wide open spaces and absolute tranquility.

But this arid haven is not limited to its deserts. Etosha National Park, one of the largest in Africa, is another jewel of the country, offering an incredible opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Its vast expanse of savannah, punctuated by a massive salt pan visible from space, is home to a multitude of wild species. You will almost find the famous « Big Five »: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinoceroses, (no buffaloes), as well as zebras, giraffes, springboks, and many others. Visitors can experience unforgettable moments with a top guide, witnessing thrilling animal life scenes around the water points, in an authentic and preserved atmosphere.

You will undertake your game drives in one of the most impressive settings, losing track of time while scanning the endless horizon of the Etosha Pan. The high-end lodges and tented camps will welcome you in absolute comfort, combining elegance and refinement.

Since the animal density is lower and less diverse than elsewhere in Africa, the « hospitality » aspect of your trip will play a prominent role in your dream journey to Namibia. Let’s explore these unique gems.

Geographically, it is a country of contrasts, with plateaus, mountains, and deserts. All intertwine to form breathtaking panoramas. The Fish River Canyon, in the south, is one of the largest canyons in the world, offering spectacular views of its deep, steep gorges. To the east, the Kalahari, less known but equally fascinating, spreads its expanses of red sand and thorny acacias, home to meerkats and other creatures adapted to this hostile environment. The Caprivi Strip stands out for its lush landscapes, winding rivers, and dense forests, contrasting sharply with the aridity of the rest of the country. Without forgetting the famous Skeleton Coast and its iconic shipwrecks.

The charm of this place also lies in its diverse ethnic cultures. The Herero, Himba, and San people, among others, offer a glimpse into a rich tapestry of traditions and lifestyles. These encounters can be profoundly moving, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in local customs and discover the genuine hospitality of the people.

This desertic state is a land where adventure awaits at every turn. It is a perfect destination for those seeking an exceptional experience, combining breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and vibrant cultures. Whether you are embarking on a road trip across its vast expanses or indulging in luxurious lodges, Namibia will capture your heart and leave you with memories to cherish for a lifetime. Holidays you won’t forget.
